Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight for all assigned projects to ensure study launch, conduct and closeout occur according to the customer's and company's contractual agreement.
  • Ensures studies progress according to internal and customer quality standards, SOPs, GCPs and ICH guidelines to fulfill all federal and local regulations.
  • Forecasts, prioritises and directs staff to achieve on‐time sponsor deliverables with quality and in accordance with contracted scope and customer expectations.
  • Collaborates with Therapeutic Strategy and Innovation team to provide operational input in support of proposal development and pricing—including the proposed operational strategy.
  • Drives preparation and facilitation of bid defence meetings in collaboration with Therapeutic Strategy and Innovation team and Business Development.
  • Provides oversight to project management teams in driving the management of financial aspects of assigned projects—i.e., executed contracts, CNFs, change orders, forecasting, invoicing, etc.
  • Mentors Project Management staff in leadership skills, customer management skills, project management skills, Trusted Process compliance, and for project specific tasks.
  • Troubleshoots difficulties that may arise in project conduct between the company and customer and manages escalations appropriately; facilitates team building and communication; acts as liaison and facilitator between other functional areas for overall operational issues.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of evolving trends related to therapeutic area, competitive landscape and drug development trends.
  • Supports teams in regularly and comprehensively assessing and mitigating risks on their projects to assure patient safety, data integrity and quality project delivery.
  • Participates in corporate initiatives and/or represents Project Management in regional or business activities.
  • Participates in the project risk review meeting process.
  • Liaises with Project Sponsors and teams to promote optimized application of project management disciplines within a fast‐paced, high‐tech environment.
  • Shares lessons learned and best practices across programmes, building relationships with key stakeholders cross‐functionally.
  • Supports change management, including adjustments based on emerging business or technical opportunities and challenges.
  • Maintains senior management‐level relationships with customers via routine meetings, governance meetings and other forums.

Client Management & Business Development:

  • Act as the senior operational leader and key point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Understand client needs and proactively identify and implement tailored solutions that add value.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate governance structures for client relationships.
  • Drive client satisfaction by ensuring smooth operational delivery and minimal escalation needs.
  • Present Syneos Health capabilities and updates during client governance meetings.
  • Lead proposal development for new opportunities, collaborating with cross‐functional teams.
  • Contribute to winning new business by providing strategic insights and operational expertise during bid defence meetings.

Project Delivery (Operational and Strategic Project Management):

  • Own the overall strategy and execution for project delivery across a portfolio of clinical research studies.
  • Conduct monthly risk reviews, quarterly financial assessments and regular delivery checkpoint meetings.
  • Drive data‐driven decision‐making by leveraging dashboards and analytics to identify risks.
  • Ensure compliance with project timelines, budgets and quality standards.
  • Mentor project leaders in risk management, forecasting and operational excellence.

Financial Stewardship (Budgeting, Forecasting and Resource Management):

  • Maintain accountability for the financial health of assigned projects.
  • Ensure accurate monthly forecasts and effective scope management.
  • Partner with finance and operational teams to manage resource allocation, budget adherence and profitability.
  • Proactively negotiate change orders and manage out‐of‐scope activities to protect organisational interests.
  • Ensure alignment of financial strategies with operational execution.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Foster a culture of cross‐functional collaboration and high performance within project teams.
  • Mentor and develop project leaders, empowering them to make data‐driven decisions and resolve issues independently.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support resource onboarding, training and professional development.
  • Partner with line managers to optimise staff performance and engagement.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Lead by example in delivering compliant and high‐quality projects.
  • Ensure project teams regularly review data to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Strategic Initiatives and Innovation:

  • Engage in assigned corporate and departmental initiatives aimed at improving project delivery and organisational efficiency.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to align GPM interests with broader organisational goals.
  • Champion change management efforts, including system and process migrations.
