The GM for EU Established Brands will be responsible for all aspects of the promotion for a portfolio of later stage and potentially earlier stage assets across multiple markets in Europe and the UK on behalf of a customer. The GM will lead a team of Sales, Marketing, Therapeutic Category, and Operations personnel supporting the portfolio and driving sales performance. The person will be responsible for the allocation of promotional investments and resources to maximize the value of the contract relationship.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve at the head of the Established Brands team supporting the contract relationship with the customer.
- Manage the broader delivery team to maximize performance against product revenue and margin forecasts.
- Manage the P&L associated with the program and be responsible for financial performance of the customer relationship.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the customer and senior leadership at Syneos Health.
- Liaise with Compliance leadership to maintain compliance with the customer’s policies and procedures.
- Participate in the program governance and lead periodic joint steering meetings and provide management reporting, as required.
- Anticipate client or program needs and issues before they occur and collaborate to develop effective solutions.
- Lead weekly cross-functional meetings to discuss program status, performance, major milestones, and key deliverables to ensure that execution is well planned and met for all open program activities.
- Lead the commercial execution and ensure activities and deliverables are consistently completed with the highest quality work, on time, and on budget.
- Proactively assess the allocation of promotional investments and resources and propose reallocations to maximize performance.
- Apply own knowledge and operational experience to ensure consistent quality and successful execution throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- As appropriate, this role provides direction for work delegated to additional vendor partners (outside of Syneos) to ensure quality and timely completion of deliverables or provision of services.
- Develop and deliver Senior Leadership and ad-hoc presentations and training as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred with 15+ years of related work experience.
- At least 10 years in senior commercial roles that spanned across multiple functional areas (e.g., General Management, Marketing, Access, Sales, Commercial Operations) in European markets.
- At least 5 years of direct P&L responsibilities for in-line commercial assets in the EU and UK region for a pharmaceutical manufacturer.
- Demonstrated record of success in driving new and established product sales.
- Strong background in marketing, pricing, reimbursement, creative product/program development, and building optimized brand value propositions.
- Financial acumen and the ability to read and understand program financials and manage program P&L is critical.
- Proven leadership and influencing within a complex and heavily matrixed environment required.
- Deep knowledge of the European pharmaceutical industry and healthcare system trends, financial data, customer insights and needs and be able to translate competitive intelligence data into meaningful short- and long-term actions.
- European launch experience across multiple pharmaceutical and therapeutic areas is required – client specific therapeutic area experience strongly preferred, global launch experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated commercial ability and business acumen, including strategic and tactical planning and execution.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with others to achieve mutual objectives both within Syneos, external partners, and the client.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong self-awareness and emotional intelligence to effectively lead through change.
- Strong leadership attributes to set direction, generate commitment, balance short- and long-term needs, constructively resolve issues.
- The ability to work in a comparable time zone to the client and key internal partners is required.
- Experience leveraging off-shore and near-shore resources.
- Ability to travel as needed.
