We are seeking an experienced T-SQL Developer to join the Synechron team. This position is predominately remote with occasional travel to Sheffield working with a global energy firm. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Transact-SQL, with a solid understanding of database design, performance optimisation, and advanced SQL features. This role requires problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical solutions effectively.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, optimise, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions
- Analyse and troubleshoot query performance issues, implementing indexing strategies and optimisation techniques
- Design efficient and scalable database schemas with a thorough understanding of normalisation, relationships, and indexing
- Manage error handling and debugging within T-SQL scripts, including transaction management
- Utilise advanced T-SQL features such as Common Table Expressions (CTEs), window functions, and dynamic SQL to solve complex data problems
- Ensure database security best practices, including managing permissions, roles, and encryption
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide clear, well-documented solutions
- Continuously stay updated on new trends, tools, and best practices in database development and SQL
- Proven experience as a T-SQL Developer with strong command of Transact-SQL
- Demonstrated ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and use advanced SQL features
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach and resolve complex data challenges
- Experience in query optimisation, indexing, and performance tuning, including real-world examples of improvement
- Solid understanding of database design principles, normalisation, and relationships
- Knowledge of error handling, debugging, and transaction management within T-SQL
- Familiarity with tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Azure SQL Database, or other database management systems
- Good communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts and solutions.
- Experience working with large datasets and high-performance applications
