Technical BA (SQL & AI)

Synechron is looking for a Senior Technical Business Analyst to support complex change across Risk and/or Product Control technology platforms within a regulated financial-services environment.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role—not a generic requirements-gathering position. You will work closely with senior engineers, solution designers and delivery leads to translate complex business, regulatory, methodological and operational needs into clear, testable and implementation-ready requirements.

Role:

• Lead analysis from initial discovery through delivery, testing and implementation.
• Turn complex business, regulatory and operational needs into clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Analyse business processes, data flows, system integrations, controls and operational impacts.
• Work closely with developers, architects and delivery teams to shape practical, testable solutions.
• Support change across risk, reporting, data, integrations, regulatory enhancements and platform modernisation.
• Define data mappings, business rules, validation checks, calculations and reconciliation requirements.
• Analyse databases, data warehouses, APIs, file transfers and other system interfaces.
• Support testing, including integration, regression, UAT and production-readiness testing.
• Manage traceability, defects, risks, dependencies, stakeholder sign-off and post-release validation.
• Use AI tools responsibly to support requirements, documentation, testing and impact analysis.

Experience:

• Significant experience as a Senior, Technical or Lead Business Analyst in a complex enterprise environment.
• Experience delivering change to production systems where security, resilience, controls and auditability are important.
• Strong technical understanding and the confidence to work with developers, architects and delivery leads.
• Experience producing clear, structured and testable requirements and delivery documentation.
• Good knowledge of business processes, data, integrations, testing and production readiness.
• Experience in Risk, Product Control, Finance, regulatory or reporting technology, ideally within financial services.
• Experience across the full delivery lifecycle, including discovery, backlog creation, UAT, release preparation and post-release support.
• Experience working in Agile or structured SDLC environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Ability to use SQL, understand data models, validate data and support reconciliation.
• Knowledge of APIs, databases, batch processing, data pipelines and event-driven systems.
• Ability to define non-functional requirements covering performance, security, resilience, monitoring and supportability.
• Experience with MongoDB, data warehouses and structured data formats such as JSON, XML and CSV.
• Knowledge of OpenShift, Kubernetes, containerised services or API-led delivery.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo or similar tools.
• Background in Risk IT, Product Control, valuation, P&L, market risk, credit risk, ESG or financial control.
• Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools responsibly

This is a long term rolling contract - x3 days as week in London office - Strong market rates inside IR35
