Job Description

Join a high-performing Technology Infrastructure team as a

Postgre SQL DBA , responsible for the availability, performance, security and resilience of business-critical database platforms.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on database specialist who enjoys working with enterprise-scale infrastructure, automation and highly available production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, upgrade and patch Postgre SQL databases.
  • Design and support high-availability, replication and disaster-recovery solutions.
  • Manage backup, restore and point-in-time recovery processes.
  • Monitor and optimise database performance, capacity and availability.
  • Troubleshoot complex database incidents and performance issues.
  • Carry out database migrations, upgrades and infrastructure changes.
  • Automate administration and operational tasks using scripting and Dev Ops tools.
  • Implement database security, access controls, auditing and vulnerability remediation.
  • Work closely with application, cloud, infrastructure and security teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and operational procedures.
  • Participate in change management, incident response and on-call support.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a Postgre SQL DBA, Database Engineer or Database Consultant.
  • Strong knowledge of Postgre SQL architecture and administration.
  • Experience with replication, failover, high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Solid understanding of backup, recovery, WAL, vacuuming and database maintenance.
  • Advanced SQL, query optimisation and performance-tuning skills.
  • Good Linux/Unix administration and shell-scripting experience.
  • Experience with Python, Bash, Ansible or similar automation technologies.
  • Experience supporting critical databases in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, incident management and change control.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
