We are looking for an experienced Java / Spark / Scala Developer to join our team in Glasgow. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on development experience in Java, Apache Spark, and Scala, with a passion for building scalable, high-performance data processing applications. Knowledge of AI/ML concepts will be considered a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java, Scala, and Apache Spark
- Build and optimize large-scale data processing pipelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business and technical requirements
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance application performance
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities
- Contribute to architecture and design discussions for data-intensive applications
- 5–8 years of software development experience
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java
- Strong experience with Apache Spark
- Solid programming skills in Scala
- Experience in developing and optimizing distributed data processing applications
- Good understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and code quality
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Exposure to AI / Machine Learning concepts or projects
- Experience working in data engineering or big data environments
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern data architectures is a plus
