Y Royalties was established in 2023 by Colin Young, Ben Marlow and Gary Groutage. Offering services in Royalty Audit, Royalties Data, Rights Management, and Transaction Services.

Y Royalties was formed from the Royalties division at Award Winning Accountancy firm, CC Young & Co, which has nearly 30 years of experience in the Music Industry. The success of this division along with our knowledge and experience gained over the years has enabled the birth of Y Royalties.

Our commitment to innovation has led us to invest significantly in our data infrastructure since 2020. Our data warehouse now sits at the heart of all our services, enabling us to analyse royalties at the most granular level, highlighting trends, anomalies and opportunities in our client’s royalty income. The data warehouse is a driving force behind our royalty audits, due diligence and catalogue valuations supported by a wealth of music industry experience, we aim to offer best-in-class services to all clients.

Overview

The Associate Director Royalty Audits is part of the management team and integral to the growth of Y Royalties, we are seeking an experienced and effective manager who has vision and drive to ensure Y Royalties is at the forefront of royalty audits, great at client management, team development and commercially aware.

Management

  • Commercial ownership of Royalty Audits (including Business Development, concluding client agreements, client billing)
  • Manage the team’s work prioritisation, allocation and review alongside their professional development
  • Product and Service development with a focus on adding value to Client Royalty Audit Service
  • Project Management (e.g. new systems and processes with cross functional working (especially data team)

Technical

  • To lead and review royalty audit work for Y Royalties clients
  • To manage and approve audit reports ensuring accuracy and correct methodology
  • To oversee, and conduct, when necessary, fieldwork both remotely and on site
  • Track and monitor all stages of the audit cycle across the department
  • Correspond with clients and auditees and ensure client relationships are maintained

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • 15 years plus working in the music industry
  • Full understanding of all types of agreements seen within the music industry
  • Full understanding of royalty audits, streaming data and the interaction between streaming sales across all types of repertoire
  • Working knowledge of PRO’s and CMO’s
  • Experience with Project software (Monday.com) and BI Systems (Tableau)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to show initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively, implement and improve processes and meet deadlines
