Synchrony's Technology and Operations Human Resources team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced employee relations leader to lead our HR Advocacy team. This leader will develop strategies to ensure fair and consistent practices across the Technology and Operations business areas and evolve process and approach.
The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering positive employee relations, driving advocacy for our frontline employee population, and implementing proactive measures to maintain a positive and productive work environment. This role requires the ability to build strong relationships with employees, management, and external stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement proactive employee relations strategies and programs to promote a positive and productive work environment that supports the evolving needs of our employees.
- Provide guidance and advocacy to management and employees on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
- Proactively solicit and analyse multiple areas of employee feedback, across all levels, to identify & prioritise opportunities for improvement in all facets of our employee lifecycle.
- Collaborate with HR, legal, employee experience, and business subject matter experts to ensure compliance with labour laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Lead the Technology & Operations HR Advocacy team, serving as the primary point of contact for the US-based Associate employee population.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees and management on employee relations and labour best practices.
- Stay updated on labour market trends, activities, and changes in labour laws to proactively address and avoid potential issues.
- Build and maintain positive relationships to foster open communication with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
- Develop communication strategies, conduct employee meetings, and address concerns to maintain a fair workplace.
- Design and drive employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and other proactive strategies to enhance overall employee well-being and retention.
- Understand and evolve approach as needed to employment practices and approach to engage the workforce through digital channels.
- Create reporting and dashboard to understand employee case themes and timeliness of resolution.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labour Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in human resources.
- 7+ years of experience in human resources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex employee relations issues and develop effective solutions.
- Experience in conducting investigations, resolving conflicts, and managing employee grievances.
- Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required.
Desired Characteristics:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of labour laws, regulations, and other relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Professional certifications in employee relations, labour relations, or related fields are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Grade/Level: 14
The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level, or knowledge. Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro, and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older.
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation, and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process.
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
