Synchro have partnered with a large and very well-known organisation and we are hiring for a director level Lead / Principal Engineer to lead a small, high-impact team of specialists responsible for developing AI capabilities across the organisation. This team builds APIs and libraries as well as thought leadership that empower AI teams across the firm, from reproducing external research to publishing innovative work that pushes the boundaries of applied AI in financial services.
In this highly senior, and hands-on role, you will lead and mentor a high-performing team of AI engineers & researchers. Working closely with your team, you will help develop reusable AI services, APIs, and libraries used across multiple lines of business. You will own and build a credible AI system across the business and build and maintain business-critical AI systems with technology partners. You will take the lead on AI best practices and keep the organisations global AI community at the forefront of emerging advancements.
This role demands a leader with a proven background in building and leading high-performing AI teams, with the ability to translate complex technical ideas across diverse stakeholders. This organisation is based in London, and this role will be based predominantly onsite, however a flexible approach to hybrid / remote working is on offer.
Required Expertise- Deep understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, experimental design, and data analysis
- Strong AI and ML technology and tooling exposure
- Recent hands-on experience training and deploying models and ML pipelines
- Experience with distributed computing patterns for model training, serving, and state persistence
- PhD with academic research experience
- Location: London – Onsite, with flexible working
- Salary / Package: Market-leading and fully negotiable depending on experience. This senior role includes a substantial base salary, attractive bonus and equity.
