The Service Architect is responsible for defining the future service architecture, operating model and support approach, working closely with the existing operations teams, suppliers, commercial, security, design and technology leads. The role ensures it adopts best‑practice ITIL service management principles and supports a complex transition period that includes dual‑run, staged onboarding, and progressive capability uplift.

Essential Skills

  • Service Architecture for Complex, Secure or National Security Platforms
  • Experience designing service models for classified or high‑assurance digital services.
  • Strong understanding of operating models in cross‑government or large enterprise environments.
  • Deep ITIL Service Management Expertise
  • Demonstrable experience applying ITIL frameworks within a complex technical environment.
  • Prior experience of designing multi‑tier or federated support models.
  • Service Transition Expertise
  • Proven experience leading service transition for major digital programmes, preferably with dual‑run or staged migration.
  • Understanding of operational acceptance, onboarding, go‑live readiness and ELS.
  • Cross‑Government, Multi‑Agency or Supplier Ecosystem Experience
  • Experience working across organisational boundaries, ideally involving public sector, suppliers and specialist operations teams.
  • Ability to navigate differing service cultures and maturity levels.
  • Commercial and SLA/OLA Design Exposure
  • Experience working with commercial teams to shape service offerings, SLAs, performance measures and supplier accountabilities.
  • Leadership & Communication - Strong communication and influencing skills, able to operate confidently across operational, technical, commercial and senior stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to simplify complexity and design services that scale.
