Synapri are supporting a Central Government organisation seeking a Senior Platforms Engineer with strong VMware Horizon and Windows Infrastructure experience to support and enhance a large-scale enterprise VDI and EUC environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and optimise VMware Horizon environments, including UAG, App Volumes, DEM, Instant Clones, and Connection Servers.
- Manage Windows Server infrastructure and core services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Deliver platform upgrades, migrations, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Automate operational tasks using PowerShell.
- Troubleshoot complex 3rd/4th line infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering, security, cloud, and project teams to deliver platform improvements.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a Senior Platform, Infrastructure, or EUC Engineer.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware Horizon and VMware vSphere/ESXi.
- Extensive Windows Server administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, PKI, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
- Experience delivering infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects.
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- VMware VCP or Horizon certifications.
- Azure, AWS, or GCP experience.
- Entra ID (Azure AD), MFA, SSO, and Conditional Access knowledge.
- Infrastructure as Code and automation framework experience.
Candidates should know the role is hybrid minimum of 3 days onsite in Glasgow.
