Essential Skills
- You must be able to demonstrate a strong track record as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator, with experience supporting and maintaining enterprise-scale SQL Server environments
Technical Skills
- Proven experience installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft SQL Server 2019.
- Strong T-SQL development and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience developing and maintaining PowerShell scripts for automation and administration.
- Good understanding of SQL Server High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server Always-On Availability Groups and clustered environments.
- Experience implementing and managing Log Shipping solutions for disaster recovery.
- Experience applying SQL Server Service Packs (SPs), Cumulative Updates (CUs), and Windows security patches.
- Strong understanding of SQL Server security best practices, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Active Directory integration, and security group management.
- Understanding of TLS/SSL certificates and encryption technologies used to secure SQL Server communications and endpoints.
- Experience managing and enhancing SQL Server maintenance processes, including backups, integrity checks, index maintenance, housekeeping routines, and automation through T-SQL and stored procedures.
- Experience implementing and managing SQL Server Auditing and compliance controls.
- Knowledge of database capacity planning, performance optimisation, and management of database files and virtualised storage platforms.
- Experience monitoring and maintaining SQL Server production environments to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
