Role Purpose
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for UI, API, and integration testing.
- Build and enhance automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress).
- Develop reusable automation components and utilities.
- Analyse user stories and acceptance criteria to determine automation scope.
- Identify and prioritise scenarios suitable for automation.
- Execute automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies to advocate for quality and testability.
- Conduct root cause analysis for defects and collaborate with developers to resolve issues.
- Validate application reliability, performance, and compatibility across environments.
- Integrate test automation into CI/CD systems (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Monitor pipeline execution and address failures or flaky tests.
- Document automation frameworks, approaches, and test cases.
- Produce clear, concise defect reports with supporting evidence.
- Communicate test progress, coverage, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
- Experience with API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured, Karate).
- Familiarity with BDD/TDD practices and tools like Cucumber or SpecFlow.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Knowledge of Git and branching strategies.
- Experience with cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP) and containerised systems (Docker/Kubernetes) is desirable.
- Good understanding of Atlassian Datacentre tooling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
- Ability to work effectively within Agile/Scrum teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 2–5+ years in automation testing roles.
- ISTQB certification is advantageous.
