The Project Manager for Initial System Development & Foundational Infrastructure provides delivery coordination and schedule management across two core Year 1 technical work packages:
- Initial System Development – developing and testing prototypes of the new digital workplace.
- Foundational Infrastructure – establishing the sovereign cloud infrastructure, SECRET gateways and security hardware required.
This role will work alongside the Enterprise Architect, Security Lead and engineering teams by ensuring activities are well planned, dependencies are managed, suppliers are coordinated, and delivery remains on track. Hands-on delivery discipline is essential, particularly during the early stages of prototyping and infrastructure build.
Required Experience
- Delivery & Coordination - Experience supporting technical or infrastructure delivery inside large, complex programmes (secure/SECRET beneficial but not essential). Strong planning, RAID management and organisational skills.
- Working With Technical Leads - Ability to work alongside architects, engineers and security specialists, translating direction into delivery activity without owning technical decisions.
- Government / Complex Stakeholder Exposure - Experience coordinating work across multiple suppliers, departments, or stakeholder groups.
Professional Skills
- Excellent communication, structured reporting, steady delivery rhythm, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working at pace and in ambiguity, with a hands-on approach in early programme phases.
