- Role Description
We’re looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing Platform & Reliability team.
- A critical part of this role will require you to have demonstrable experience in
- Supporting live production systems or platforms
- Working directly with internal & external customers
- Incident management; responding to monitoring alerts & tickets, including triaging, root cause analysis, remediation & prevention of future repeats activity
You’ll help operate and improve our production platforms while contributing to the evolution of our next-generation AWS platform.
Our existing services run across Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure, while new platforms are increasingly being built using AWS managed services, serverless technologies and Terraform.
You’ll work closely with software engineers to build reliable, observable, and automated platforms that enable teams to deliver software safely and efficiently.
This role is ideal for someone with solid cloud fundamentals who wants to continue developing their expertise across AWS, automation and platform engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability & Operations.
- Supporting live production systems or platforms
- Working directly with internal & external customers
- Incident management; responding to monitoring alerts & tickets, including triaging, root cause analysis, remediation & prevention of future repeats activity
- Help improve system reliability, availability, and performance.
- Reduce operational effort through automation.
- Contribute to operational documentation and runbooks.
- Support the team’s on-call 24/7 rota.
- AWS Platform
- Support AWS infrastructure and managed services.
- Help build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform.
- Contribute to secure, scalable cloud platforms.
- Assist with improving automation across the platform.
- Support and maintain existing Kubernetes environments.
- Assist with upgrades, maintenance and operational improvements.
- Help ensure workloads remain reliable and performant.
- Observability
- Build and improve dashboards, alerts and monitoring.
- Help develop logging and tracing capabilities.
- Support continuous improvements to platform observability.
- CI/CD & Automation
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Support infrastructure and application delivery through Git-based workflows.
- Help improve developer experience through automation.
- Work closely with software engineers and product teams.
- Participate in planning, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.
- Continuously develop your technical skills and contribute new ideas.
Essential Requirements for this Role
Qualifications/Experience
- MUST BE A BRITISH CITIZEN OR HAVE WORKED CONTINUALLY IN THE UK FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS
- Must be willing to undergo top level security clearance
2–4 years’ experience in cloud, platform engineering or SRE.
- Technical Experience
- Cloud
- Experience with AWS
- Understanding of core cloud services including networking, identity and compute.
- Infrastructure as Code
- Experience using Terraform.
- Containers
- Experience working with Kubernetes or similar container platforms.
- Understanding Docker and containerized applications.
- Monitoring
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Cloud Watch.
- Technical Skills
- Basic scripting (Bash, Python, or Go).
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
- Soft Skills
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Has a curiosity for learning new technologies.
- Takes ownership of their work.
