Your Role
This is a strategic role responsible for shaping the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) landscape across all Symrise UK sites—driving excellence in legal compliance, sustainability, and safety culture, while ensuring the organisation meets regulatory standards and achieves its corporate HSE goals.
Your key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of HSE performance and compliance across Symrise UK sites in line with UK legislation, ISO 14001, and corporate goals.
- Drive a proactive safety culture and sustainability initiatives, including energy reduction and waste management.
- Ensure accurate documentation, risk assessments, and training compliance via platforms such as SAI360, TAM, iHasco, and internal platforms.
- Monitor and report key HSE metrics (e.g., MAQ, TFQ, near misses) to support continuous improvement and meet EAME targets.
- Manage environmental compliance (SECR, ESOS, discharge permits), fire safety, and site security systems (TENSOR).
- Coordinate and lead regular safety walks, workshops, HSE meetings, and change management reviews across all sites.
- Ensure readiness for audits (ISO 14001, SMETA, FSCC 22001, customer audits) and maintain strong relationships with HSE authorities.
- Oversee waste management contracts and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Qualifications & experience:
- You hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Health, Safety and Occupational Health or equivalent senior HSE experience.
- Proven experience in a senior Health and Safety role in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the Food or Fragrance industry.
- Experience managing Health, Safety, and Environmental performance across multiple sites.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.
- Profound familiarity with ISO 14001 standards and Intermediate Auditor qualification.
- IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) membership or equivalent significant experience.
- Previous experience with platforms such as SAI360, TAM or similar.
