As a Symphony GP, you would undertake all the clinical duties associated with a GP working in primary care, without the responsibilities and risks associated with being a Partner. We can offer opportunities depending on your experience and the level of responsibility you take on at the practice. All GPs working for us are salaried and paid as employees, unlike Partners, which means less risk for you and more time to focus on patient care.

We put patients first, and our GPs work flexibly according to need, contributing to areas such as QOF, QI, training and research projects providing a huge amount of variety to the role. However, our newly qualified / less experienced GPs have a clearly defined job plan setting out the hours of work and responsibility and tasks associated with the role.

Through annual appraisal, we encourage career development and progression and are keen to support GPs who wish to extend their role or have specialist skills which can be utilised in primary care.

Symphony Healthcare Services have an opportunity for a Salaried GP to join the team to work across both Buttercross Health Centre in Somerton and Ilchester Surgery in Ilchester, both in South Somerset. Buttercross and Ilchester provide care to approximately 7,800 people and have a multi-disciplinary team including GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, Musculoskeletal Practitioners, Healthcare Assistants, Health Coaches, Administrators and Receptionists.

All clinicians at the practice use 'Ask my GP', an online tool providing quick and easy access for our patients. It enables the team to prioritise requests supporting patients either by telephone, online, video or face to face consultations.

Somerton is a historic market town situated on the River Cary in Somerset, famed as the ancient capital of Wessex, boasting a medieval Market Square, an iconic 17th-century octagonal Buttercross, and a thriving community of independent shops, art galleries, and highly-rated eateries. Ilchester is a rural settlement and civil parish on the River Yeo in South Somerset, situated just 5 miles north of Yeovil, blending ancient heritage with a close-knit community spirit.

Both Somerton and Ilchester are very close to the A303, making travel to London, Bristol, Exeter and Bath easy. We have up to 6 vacant GP sessions available and we offer a competitive sessional rate, plus the option to join the NHS pension, along with many other Symphony employee benefits.
