A leading Maritime business in Plymouth is seeking a Finance Analyst to support the Commercial Lead in tracking, evaluating, and reporting on the financial performance of key projects. The role will focus on maintaining accurate project financial data, updating monthly trackers, and providing analysis to support effective decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the monthly financial reporting cycle
- Support the creation of forecasts and project plans by project
- Generate cash flow profiles and monitor milestone payment plans
- Work with the Commercial Lead and Finance team to initiate invoicing
- Prepare documentation for internal project reviews
- Update monthly financial trackers and budgets in real time
- Maintain accurate project data records, including timesheets
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of project financial data, resolving discrepancies
- Recommend improvements to reporting processes and tools
- Support audit preparation and compliance requirements
- Provide ad-hoc analysis for the Finance team as required
Requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Strong analytical and numerical ability with excellent attention to detail
- Experience handling multiple data sources and reporting systems
- Ability to communicate financial performance clearly across teams
Desirable
- Experience in a finance or budget holder role within engineering or maritime/defence
- Background in a Project Management Office (PMO) environment
- Understanding of compliance requirements and industry standards
- Degree in Business, Finance, or Commercial discipline preferred (or equivalent experience)
