We are currently looking to recruit a Night Shift Manager at our Bakery at Millerdale working 48 hours per week, Night shift (6pm - 6am), 4 on 4 off.

The Role: The role of the Shift Manager exists to provide effective frontline management for site across Production, Packing and Warehouse.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all work is carried out in a safe manner in compliance with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • To ensure that all Company and customer quality procedures are complied with to deliver the highest possible standard of product to meet our customers’ expectations.
  • To ensure that the highest standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained across the whole facility.
  • To act as the initial point of contact for all issues within the designated units across all departments on nights.
  • To deliver financial performance by working with support functions.
  • To deliver clear action plans to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • To provide accurate and relevant data daily, weekly and monthly to support the performance delivery and effective management, while ensuring SAP is used effectively throughout process steps.
  • To manage the skills of all colleagues and where further training is required, plan and ensure that skills are further developed.
  • To actively encourage all colleagues to provide solutions to problems and a means of improving the company both to reduce cost and enhance its position in the business environment and local area.
  • To proactively manage labour requirements, skills and numbers to deliver the required production volumes.
  • To set the standards of behaviour, work ethic and appearance to all colleagues and visitors.
  • To actively manage all people issues and challenges using all relevant departments and support staff to correctly manage these situations.
  • To provide agreed team briefs to all colleagues at agreed times.
  • To review team performance with each line during shifts to provide relevant information in Short Interval Control (SIC) meetings.
  • To ensure that the business is correctly appraised of any challenges and successes.
  • To ensure that all communication is completed with accurate data, correct facts and is carried out in a professional manner.
  • To always challenge the status quo to ensure the unit of responsibility is continually striving to be the best it can be.
  • Together with other peers ensure that site has management cover at all times and all colleagues are clear about the contact for that shift.
  • To adhere to all HR policies/procedures and to deal with people issues that may arise in a timely and accurate manner – eg. Return to Work Reviews, Performance Management & Time and Attendance etc.
  • To take an active role in continuously developing your skills and knowledge through self-development activities and/or through attending Company organised training and development opportunities.
  • To ensure that the Company is professionally represented at all times, both inside and outside the business.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as may from time to time be required by the Company.

  • Line efficiency – to meet targets and have clear action plans to improve further
