We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Auditor to work at our Consett site (DH8 7NU).
To ensure that all raw materials receipted, all finished products packed, and all paperwork relevant to the Symington’s Consett site meet the required quality and food safety specifications agreed with the supplier. To ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner in compliance with the company’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures and works safely with other employees.
- MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB (Why does the job exist?)
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure that all Company quality parameters and procedures are complied with and that all products manufactured meet the required standards and specifications.
- To liaise with raw material suppliers to ensure they meet Company standard, and to ensure they supply a certificate of analysis or conformance for the product.
- To sample and test raw materials and packaging to ensure compliance with Company quality standards and agreed specifications.To test finished products in accordance with Company quality standards.
- To test samples as back of pack to ensure customer compliance.To investigate non-conformances raised through internal procedures or through external customer complaints.
- To carry out internal quality, hygiene, CIC, G&HP & QMS auditing.To conduct product thermal process validations where required.
- To maintain quality records and monitor trends.To carry out project work as and when required to meet departmental objectives.
- To ensure all persons on site adhere to the correct Company hygiene regulations.To liaise with raw material suppliers to ensure they meet Company standards in order to supplyTo highlight unsatisfactory/out of specification or any matters of concern to the QA Manager.
- To prepare new product launch packs and review production paperwork before issue.To train staff in quality procedures & processes where required.To liaise with customers for Quality Audits & or compliance panels.To keep accurate & detailed records on the Technical Drive.
- To ensure all production paperwork is checked and signed off in line with our procedures before being filed.Ensures that all documentation is archived and collated in accordance with our document control procedures.To ensure all retort graphs are signed off.
- Checking temperatures of chilled and frozen storage are within acceptable limits.
- To ensure the QA lab is always clean and tidy.To respond to service queries in a timely manner e.g. the shortage report.Monitor consumable levels and trend usage.Conduct internal probe calibrations.Conduct dosing checks.Ensures compliance to our BRC Accreditation and customer Codes of PracticeTo ensure that the Company is professionally represented at all times, both inside and outside the business.
- To protect the health, safety and welfare of the job-holder and others at all times.To take an active role in continuously developing the job-holder’s skills and knowledge through self-development activities and/or through attending Company organised training and development opportunities.To respond to ad hoc requests and/or take an active role in specific projects as directed by the job-holder’s line manager.
- To carry out regular audits of the Quality Assurance Systems within the factory to ensure they are operating according to Company standards for factors such as product weight control, metal detection, coding, traceability, thermal process, stock rotation and general housekeeping.
- To carry out taste panels on all products we make.To test products for pH where required.To conduct burst testing and dye testing where required.To ensure incubation is managed accurately in a timely manner.To ensure products are positively released in line with our procedures in a timely manner so as to not affect service levels.
- To monitor and action the daily flag and set reports.To raise and manage concessions where required.To carry out regular environmental, ATP and allergen verification swabbing, log and monitor the results, and re-test out of specification products.
- To carry out regular potable water sampling for testing, log and monitor results and re-test out of specification products.To send products for a wide variety of testing including microbiological, heavy metal, Pesticide and mycotoxins as required.To ensure compliance by following the testing schedule of raw materials and finished products, monitor and trend results, and also retest out of specification products.Ensure the EOL testing is carried out as per schedule.
- To ensure that out of specification products are held by the non-conformance process and also monitor the hold owners deadlines for closing holds out.To provide coaching and support for other departments around the food safety & quality systems on site.To undertake any other reasonable duties as may from time to time be required by the Company.
- To ensure brand integrity is maintained at all times according to business policies and procedures.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS/KEY RESULT AREAS
GMP, Hygiene, & QMS Internal Audits completed in a timely manner. Holds & NCRs managed in a timely manner. Customer complaints are investigated and responded to in a timely manner. Contribution to the site Health & Safety Culture. Contribution to the QMS System Adherence & Site Audit Grade Target off Green/Pass. Contribution to the company goal of >98% Service Levels for all Customers.
