About Us
Symbolica is an AI research lab pioneering the application of category theory to enable logical reasoning in machines. We’re a well-resourced, nimble team of experts on a mission to bridge the gap between theoretical mathematics and cutting-edge technologies, creating symbolic reasoning models that think like humans – precise, logical, and interpretable. Our approach combines rigorous research with fast-paced, results-driven execution. Founded in 2022, we’ve raised over $30M from leading Silicon Valley investors to push the boundaries of applying formal mathematics and logic to machine learning. Our vision is to create AI systems that transform industries, empowering machines to solve humanity’s most complex challenges with precision and insight.
About the role
As Design and Brand Lead, you will own and amplify Symbolica’s design and brand across every touchpoint – from product and web to campaigns, to narrative. You’ll convert our complex, technical programmes into a distinctive visual and verbal identity and translate that into compelling, measurable output. You’ll lead hands-on design efforts and, with time, grow our internal team. You’ll partner with product, research, operations and executive teams to craft mission-aligned brand narratives. You’ll set success metrics (awareness, sentiment, share-of-voice, qualified pipeline) and iterate based on data, reporting on it to the rest of the company. This is a senior role with exec visibility, but requires rolling up your sleeves and contributing hands-on. Your work will span our global offices, and offers the chance to build and influence a global brand from the ground up – to establish our identity across the world.
Key responsibilities
- Lead hands-on design execution across all brand touchpoints, creating high-quality visual assets, product interfaces, marketing materials, and brand elements using design tools like Figma.
- Launch and scale brand-centric GTM initiatives and awareness campaigns; define KPIs (brand lift, sentiment, share‑of‑voice, qualified pipeline) and optimize based on data.
- Establish and refine brand studio operations: build design systems, processes, briefing guidelines, schedules, and budget tracking.
- Oversee creative ideation through delivery: produce or commission assets, manage internal designers, marketing vendors, and guide end-to-end project execution.
- Perform market research, competitive analysis, and trend monitoring to inform brand strategy and stay ahead of category shifts.
- Serve as strategic thought partner to execs, shaping brand strategy, positioning priorities and influencing cross-functional decisions.
- With time, mentor and hire team members; build capacity through training, feedback and performance frameworks.
About you
- 5+ years building or refining high-impact brand functions in growth-stage tech or AI environments, with globally-recognized identities.
- Led standout campaigns with measurable lifts in awareness, sentiment, and demand.
- Equally skilled across both strategic thinking and hands-on execution (Figma, Adobe, copywriting).
- Fast-moving: we’re a startup and every day matters.
- Cross-functional communicator: collaborated with product, research, engineering, communications, and executives.
- Experienced in AI and technical topics.
- Experienced shaping launch narratives grounded in deeply technical contexts.
- Thrives in ambiguity, prioritizes impact, and inspires internal and external teams.
- Led narrative strategy in deep-tech, B2B, or regulated sectors.
- Executed global AI-centric brand campaigns.
- Proficient in motion, interactive, and digital storytelling.
- Defined and tracked brand-to-funnel performance metrics.
