Supervisor: Building Principal
Purpose: Supports and complements the goals and vision of the Board of Education through the promotion of excellent education and improved student support and achievement.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Principal, the Assistant Principal will administer the general Board of Education and building policies and procedures, administrative regulations, school programs, and the general operation and leadership of the school.
The position will be in accordance with terms outlined in the Stratford Administrators’ Association (SAA) contract.
- MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a safe and orderly environment for staff and students.
- Coordinate, evaluate, and improve the instructional program for all students in the school.
- Supervise and evaluate certified personnel in the school, and promote the improvement of teacher performance through a systematic program of professional development.
- Promote positive relationships between the school, the parents of its students, and the general community.
- Assess student performance, using data to improve teaching and learning, and use technology as a tool for school management and learning.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor, Superintendent or designee.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Connecticut Intermediate Administrator Certificate, (#092)
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an elementary classroom teacher.
- Must possess an excellent use of technology in the analysis of data from assured assessments, to further ensure effective teaching and learning strategies are being used in the classroom.
- Evidence of school district leadership is necessary as well as the ability to communicate in a fair and equitable manner with students, parents, staff, district office, and the community at large.
- Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with staff and to exercise leadership in the supervision of staff and the development of curriculum.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- High standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity.
- A strong academic record, both undergraduate and graduate.
- WORK YEAR
Elementary Assistant Principal position (206 days), as described in the Stratford Administrators’ Association contract.
COMPENSATION
The salary for this position is determined in accordance with the provisions of the current Administrator Contract.
