Penn's Grove Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as an Assistant Coach for our middle school softball team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the sport and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes. This position will support the head coach in developing players' skills, promoting teamwork, and encouraging sportsmanship. The candidate would assume the role of 7th grade coach.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices and games, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all participants.
- Help in developing and implementing training programs that enhance players' skills and understanding of the game.
- Provide guidance and support to student-athletes in their personal and athletic development.
- Monitor and evaluate players' performance, offering constructive feedback to help them improve.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
- Assist in managing team logistics, including scheduling practices and games, organizing transportation, and maintaining equipment.
- Attend all scheduled practices, games, and team meetings.
- Support the head coach in maintaining compliance with school and league policies and regulations.
Requirements
- Previous experience playing or coaching softball at the middle school level or higher is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of softball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, players, and parents.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Availability to attend practices and games, typically after school hours and on weekends.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all student-athletes.
