Penn's Grove Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our athletic program as a Baseball Assistant Coach. The ideal candidate will support the head coach in developing student-athletes' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive sportsmanship culture. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all players while contributing to their overall growth and development in the sport of baseball. The candidate will assume the role of 7th grade coach.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and implementing practice sessions, drills, and game strategies.
- Provide individual and group instruction to players to enhance their skills and understanding of the game.
- Help organize and supervise team activities, including practices, games, and team meetings.
- Monitor and promote the physical and emotional well-being of student-athletes.
- Maintain effective communication with players, parents, and school administration.
- Assist in the recruitment and evaluation of new players.
- Support the development of a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and regulations as well as safety protocols during all activities.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to enhance coaching skills and knowledge of the sport.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or school administration.
Requirements
- Previous experience playing or coaching baseball at the middle school level or higher.
- Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Availability to attend practices and games, including evenings and weekends.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred but not required.
- A background check will be required prior to employment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent; college experience in sports management or a related field is a plus.
