ROLE PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solar PV Designer to join our fast-growing team. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the designand optimisation of commercial and industrial solar PV systems, including battery storage integration. You will work closely with project managers, installation teams, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, compliant, and efficient solar energy solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design solar PV systemstailored to the specific site and clientrequirements, using softwaresuch as Open Solar, PVSol SolarEdge…
- Calculate energy production estimates based on site conditions and system specifications.
- Select appropriate solar panels,inverters, mounting systems,and other components.
- Review and approve our business development team’s designs, schematics, and layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and regulations.
- Ensure compatibility and efficiency of all system components
- Conduct site feasibility studies and shading analysis.
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations, includingG99/G100 and MCS standards.
- Design electrical systems for solar PV installations.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes and standards
- Ensure all designs comply with local regulations and standards
- Estimate project costs and prepare budgets.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Support continual improvement in design standards and processes.
- Travel to sites if required for surveys and technical support.
PERSON SPECIFICATION AND BACKGROUND
- Strong technical knowledge of Solar PV and BatteryEnergy Storage Systems(BESS) to includedesign principles, components, and grid integration.
- Must have significant experience in solar PV system designand engineering.
- Electrical 18th edition
- C & G Level 3 and above
- Ability to read architects’ drawings and overlayproducts for installation.
- Strong Experience of Excel,Word and Outlook.
- Proficiency in CAD software(AutoCAD). But not essential
- Strong understanding of mechanical, architectural, or electrical drafting.
- HV/LV connection knowledge.
- Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations.
