Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager is a key position to drive growth within the UK Consumer and B2C organisation. The focus of the role is to grow the consumer customer base in both mainstream retail and e-commerce channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish strong, long-term client relationships with a list of key retailers to be agreed.
- Plan and arrange visits to clients to adequately cover current and future sales opportunities.
- Monitor the UK consumer market in lighting and highlight opportunities, be opportunity aware and monitor competitor activity.
- Review market opportunities aligned to Sylvania's offer and highlight gaps.
- Gather, record and report on customer EPOS data and retail pricing.
- Work to “Best Practice” principles with a category management approach, working with the 4 “P’s” – product, price, promotion & placement.
- Review competitor activity within the lighting category and report/share trends.
- In conjunction with the leadership teams, ensure credible and reliable input to the forecasting process.
- Create JBP’s – Joint Business Plans, to achieve both the customers’ growth plans, as well as Sylvania’s.
- Deal effectively with client administration.
- Deal effectively with after sales issues in conjunction with the Commercial and After Sales quality team to ensure excellence in customer service.
- Ensure that all internal administration reports are completed accurately and on time to ensure the continued improvement in selling efficiency.

- Proven track record of achievement in the consumer space.
- Able to demonstrate the following core competencies: Sales Account Management / Negotiation / Presentation / Results Driven / Decisiveness / Entrepreneurial skills to seek new business opportunities.
- Ability to build effective relationships in a cross-functional work environment.
- Proactive self-starter with strong self-motivation and willingness to make things happen.
- Good level of English language (spoken and written).
- Strong IT Skills.
- Full UK Driving licence.
- Willingness to extensively travel in the UK.
