A central component of this role is leading our community building efforts; you will be the driving force behind supporting, growing, and engaging our global network of members, ensuring they remain connected, driving engagement and value to ensure the network functions as a vibrant space for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

In addition, you’ll lead the implementation and delivery of our impact work. This will ensure that our programme initiatives directly feed into our broader mission, creating a seamless link between the journalists we support and the systemic impact we aim to achieve.

The position is for an immediate start and is a hybrid role, primarily remote but with in-person days in London up to eight times a month. This position is offered as a full time staff position in the UK. Candidates must already live in the UK and have the right to work in the UK. You will need to ensure you have access to a suitable professional and confidential environment with a reliable internet connection to carry out your duties. Some international travel will be required. The position is full time over Monday to Friday. This is a fixed term contract ending on 31 December 2026. However, pending securing the required funding, we intend for this to become a multi-year programme.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver and grow Syli’s programmes across numerous initiatives, including climateXchange and Impact Lab.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for our programmes, and cultivate relationships with beneficiaries, media, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure impact measures are achieved and captured in line with programme and Syli overall objectives.
  • Day to day hands-on management of a wide range of operational programme functions including, planning, analysis, monitoring, budgeting, administration and other support activities.
  • Line manage programme team members.
  • Other work to expand and support Syli’s programmes.

The pay for this role is £55,000 per year based on 35 hours per week.

Qualifications: We have identified what we think you’ll need to know and have done, in order to do well in this role. You’ll have a background in journalism or communications alongside experience managing programmes and/or projects. This may be in the media, climate or non-profit sector.

  • Substantial successful experience in programme or project management with media, media development, communications / information, non-profit, government or philanthropic funded projects.
  • Experience managing international programmes with strong skills in facilitating innovation, developing training and building productive media industry networks.
  • Experience with partnership management, gained working for or in partnership with an international non-profit.
  • Can use social media and digital communications to help achieve programme goals.
  • Able to prioritise and handle multiple ongoing tasks and deadlines independently.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate as an effective team member.
  • Professional, reliable, and able to remain calm and maintain effective relationships in a fast paced work environment.
  • Passion for climate reporting, additional languages, and experience with Slack and Google workspace are beneficial.

If this sounds like you, or if you feel that you have what is needed to succeed in this role but your background is a little different from above, we’d love to hear from you.

Additional Information: To Apply Please submit a CV, a cover letter addressing the responsibilities, qualifications, knowledge, and experience required for the role. Incomplete applications will not be considered. You must also answer the screening questions.

The Process: We will review applications as they come in and will follow a set process to reduce bias in selection. The closing date for applications is midnight UK time on Sunday, 8th February.
