Established in 1862, Sykes Timber is a sixth-generation family timber merchant with one of the most diverse timber stocks in the UK.
We import and supply over 80 timber species to timber merchants, joinery manufacturers, oak framers, boat builders, construction companies and specialist makers throughout the UK.
Following significant growth and investment, we are looking for an ambitious Timber Sales Executive to join our team and help drive the next stage of our expansion.
The Role
This is a varied and hands-on sales role involving both account management and business development.
You will be responsible for
- Building relationships with existing and prospective customers
- Generating enquiries and converting opportunities into sales
- Preparing quotations and following up enquiries
- Developing new business within target sectors
- Working closely with our purchasing, machining and yard teams
- Visiting customers where appropriate
- Providing technical advice on timber species, grades and applications
- Managing projects from enquiry through to delivery
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is

Previous timber industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.
Experience in sales, account management, construction products, joinery, building materials or merchanting would be beneficial.
