About Sygnature Discovery
We create exceptional scientific outcomes for our customers, helping bring life‑changing medicines to patients, and for our people who make this possible. We are a community of over 700 scientists from more than 50 countries, working collaboratively across Europe and North America. With no competing internal programmes, we offer total confidentiality and commitment. Over the past 20 years we have delivered real impact: more than 60 advanced candidates, 250 patents filed, and 200+ active projects. Over 90% of our customers continue to work with us.
About The Role
Bioscientists support and lead integrated client projects while developing and delivering customised biological screening assays to drive structure‑activity relationships for preclinical drug discovery campaigns. This is a full‑time, fixed‑term, lab‑based position at our Alderley Park site.
We seek talented scientists with a recent PhD in a biology‑related discipline that translates well to bioscience‑based drug discovery or relevant industrial experience within a drug discovery environment. Whether you are transitioning from academia or already a senior scientist looking for broader exposure to biology, disease areas, screening platforms, and therapeutic modalities, we would love to hear from you.
Role Responsibilities
- Undertake training activities that develop an understanding of biochemical, cellular, and biophysical screening techniques.
- Deploy to client projects, developing and delivering bespoke screening assays as required.
- Design and execute experiments independently.
- Identify and solve problems associated with own experiments and those of other team members when appropriate.
- Present scientific findings, interpretations, and recommendations to key project stakeholders.
- May take on a leadership role with significant technical and scientific supervision within bioscience‑only projects.
Skills & Qualifications
- PhD in a biology‑specific discipline with substantial practical research experience in cell biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, biophysics, or enzymology, or equivalent industrial experience in a drug discovery environment.
- Experience with biochemical, biophysical or cellular technologies applied to compound screening is an advantage; a strong scientific track record in drug discovery is highly desirable.
- Strong interest in drug discovery and awareness of current and emerging industry trends.
- Ability to develop novel assays from first principles and interpret complex biological data sets.
- Proactive trouble‑shooting skills and adoption of industry‑leading practices for generating and analysing robust scientific data.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present complex scientific ideas and data to key stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn new processes, interact with state‑of‑the‑art equipment, and use data analysis software.
