Sygnature Discovery is a world-leading integrated drug discovery Contract Research Organisation based in the UK and Canada with its headquarters in Nottingham and additional facilities in Alderley Park, Macclesfield, Glasgow, Montreal and Quebec City. Therapeutic areas of expertise include oncology, inflammation and immunology, neuroscience, metabolic diseases, infectious diseases, and more.

Our In Vivo Pharmacology scientists play an essential role in supporting internal and client-based studies using specialist techniques and assays. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of experienced scientists and be given the opportunity to broaden their skills by gaining hands-on experience. Sygnature Discovery is seeking a scientist who will have the experience in the performance of licensed procedures under ASPA or are willing to learn. In addition, the scientist will provide support to the department in the form of husbandry and housekeeping duties as well as assistance with departmental Health and Safety.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Performance of basic scientific procedures (e.g. dosing)
  • Responsible for the day to day running of stock rodent husbandry routines, including weekly weighing, cage changing, food and water provision.
  • Liaising with colleagues to ensure stocks of bedding, enrichment and diet are maintained to satisfactory levels with the facility.
  • Responsible for housekeeping tasks around the animal facility and stocking of procedure rooms and ancillary areas within the facility.
  • Assisting the technical team with scientific duties.
  • Interact with Sygnature Discovery’s Facilities Group to ensure equipment is serviced and contracts are maintained.
  • Ensure electrical equipment is PAT tested.
  • Carry out delegated H&S duties as delegated.

Key requirements:

  • Suitable experience in an academic or industrial background.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail with good organisational skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
