About the role: Our Protein Science team specialises in the engineering, expression, and purification of tailored proteins across a wide range of protein classes for applications including biochemical screening, biophysics, diagnostics, and biologics drug discovery. We also have a dedicated team of scientists carrying out structural studies using X-ray crystallography, Cryo-EM, and protein NMR, giving you the opportunity to work alongside experts across multiple disciplines using cutting-edge technologies. Due to continued growth, we're looking for Scientists and Senior Scientists to join our Protein Science team at our Tytherington site in Macclesfield. We're looking for curious and passionate scientists with hands-on experience in either protein expression, purification, and structural determination. Experience in protein engineering and biophysical or structural characterisation techniques would be an advantage.
As a global CRO, you'll have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of client projects rather than focusing on a single programme. You'll collaborate with talented scientists from across the business, tackle a broad range of scientific challenges, and help our clients accelerate the discovery of tomorrow's medicines. Role Responsibilities:
- Protein Expression involving the expression of recombinant proteins in bacterial, insect, and mammalian systems
- Protein purification and analysis of a broad range of targets including membrane proteins
- Structural Biology - X-ray crystallography, biomolecular NMR, and CryoEM
Skills & Qualifications:
- As a minimum, you will have a BSc/MSc or PhD in Biochemistry or a related discipline
- Drugs discovery experience in a CRO is advantageous; however, it is not essential
- Successful project delivery will be achieved through your own individual experimental work and by working flexibly with colleagues
- Excellent problem-solving skills and knowledge of some of the techniques involved in protein expression, purification, and analysis including structural biology
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a natural broader curiosity
