Bioscientists at Sygnature Discovery play essential roles in supporting and leading integrated client projects as well as developing and delivering customised biological screening assays to drive structure-activity relationships for preclinical drug discovery campaigns. We are seeking bright Scientists who can help push the boundaries of our capabilities by contributing to the discovery of new drugs across a broad range of projects, molecular targets, and therapeutic indications. You should have recently completed a PhD in a relevant Biology-related discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Enzymology, Biophysics, Cell Biology, Pharmacology) or have relevant industrial experience within a drug discovery environment.
Role Responsibilities:
- Designs and executes experiments independently.
- Identify and solve problems associated with own experiments and those of other team/project members as/if appropriate.
- Presents scientific findings, interpretations, and recommendations to the project/therapeutic/functional team, and/or clients with some guidance from the project leader or overseer.
- Support projects by developing good professional interpersonal relationships within the team supporting them to meet their project objectives and providing practical and scientific help and assistance to other team members as appropriate.
- Propose and/or evaluate new opportunities in the areas of technology and process development.
- Develop an awareness of current developments in relevant scientific literature and shares these with other team/project members.
- Distinct project responsibilities relevant to project requirements e.g. ownership of slide collation, monitoring of reagent stocks.
- May attend and or recommend conferences aiming for a poster presentation, and present to external scientists and businesses.
- May take on leadership role with significant level of technical or scientific supervision/oversight within Bioscience only project supporting generation of project/therapeutic/functional required material.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ideally you will be close to submission or have a PhD in Pharmacology, Biochemistry or a related Biology-specific discipline.
- Relevant industry experience within a drug discovery environment will also be considered.
- A strong scientific track record with experience built within a drug discovery environment is highly desirable.
- A working knowledge of current trends in drug discovery.
- Ability to develop novel assays from first principles and interpret complex biological datasets.
- Aptitude for proactive trouble-shooting and adoption of industry-leading practices for generation and analysis of robust scientific data.
- Experience of biochemical, biophysical or cellular technologies such as flow cytometry, RT-qPCR, high content imaging, Western Blotting, and SPR as applied to compound screening would be an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to present complex scientific ideas and datasets to key stakeholders.
