Sygma Fire, Security and Electrical is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Engineer to join our team covering Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
Role Overview
The Fire Alarm Installation Engineer will be responsible for the installation, commissioning and handover of fire detection and alarm systems across a range of commercial, industrial and public sector sites.
You will ensure all installations are completed to the highest standards, in line with project specifications and relevant British Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install fire alarm systems in accordance with design specifications and current standards
- Commission and test newly installed fire alarm systems
- Complete system handovers and client demonstrations
- Diagnose and rectify installation faults during commissioning
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors and other site trades
- Complete installation documentation and commissioning certificates accurately
- Ensure all work complies with relevant British Standards and Health & Safety regulations
- Maintain a professional standard of workmanship and site conduct

- Conventional fire alarm systems
- Aspirating smoke detection systems
- Emergency lighting (if applicable)
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience installing fire alarm systems
- Experience with first fix, second fix and commissioning of fire alarm systems
- Strong understanding of fire alarm wiring, containment and device installation
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications
- Good IT skills for digital commissioning and documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications
- FIA or equivalent fire alarm training
- ECS / CSCS card
- IPAF or PASMA
- Experience with manufacturers such as Gent, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, C-Tec or similar
