Position Purpose and Objective
As Quality Engineer, you will evaluate the quality assurance of processes and products and recommend revisions of indicated processes and relevant specifications. This is a site-based role; however home working can be allowed under certain circumstances – to be established with the Senior Quality Engineer.
Your duties will include:
- Being a part of a cross-functional team that reviews efficacy of systems and procedures to ensure that they meet technical standards.
- Creating documentation on quality and liaising between the process engineering, production teams and the customers to uncover quality-related issues.
- Evaluating data and ascertaining trends from customer complaints, internal non-conformances and internal audit findings in order to identify areas for improvement, putting in robust (Poke-Yoke) corrective actions.
- Demonstrating strong safety principles, in accordance with HSE requirements.
- Monitoring the entire production process, in your area of responsibility, and performing regular “vertical audits” to identify potential problems and malfunctions in the early stages.
- Supporting production by regularly liaising with the process engineer, supervisor, team leaders and operatives for the assigned production area (either Resin, Hot Melt or UD/FC) to improve the quality of products for enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Leading customer complaints, internal Non-conformances and SCARs.
- Performing customer specification review and originating supplier purchasing specifications.
- Identifying and supporting continual improvement opportunities especially in the assigned production area (either Hot Melt, Resin or UD/FC).
- Supporting the NPI and management of change process across all site functions where indicated by the Senior QE and especially in your area of responsibility.
- Supporting the contract/specification review process when indicated.
- Supporting the site during customer visits, customer audits and external certification visits.
- Performing on time audit activities as scheduled and as “Lead Auditor” support other auditors as needed.
- Supporting QM & Senior QE by liaising with various areas of the business to ensure quality system knowledge is utilised fully.
- Providing mistake proof (Poke-Yoke) solutions to business processes and shop floor related problems via 3-5-8D investigations into internal audit findings, NCNs, customer complaints, & regular reviews of data and trends.
- Recording & presenting scrap data with fault codes.
- Supporting APQP/PPAP activities as required especially in phase 3 and phase 4 of the relevant projects.
- Carrying out quality training where needed, including quality alerts.
- Inspecting incoming raw materials as needed and when issues arise.
- Supporting new item creation, bundling of purchasing specifications & management of change request.
- Supporting in improving & creating QMS documentation & processes.
- Supporting external, internal or third party audits.
Education
Degree level education.
Experience
4-6 years working with quality assurance (AS9100 Aerospace and IATF 16949 Automotive QMS knowledge is essential). Excellent IT skills including working knowledge of or experience with SAP, Q Pulse & ETQ (Nonconforming management portal) would be ideal in this role. Solid understanding of QMS systems and compliance, SAP, Customer specific requirements and relevant production processes to lead cross functional teams to solve Quality related problems. Good understanding of composite material industry will be a good add on.

- Ability to explain demonstrate and train individuals in the use of QA systems such as QPulse / ETQ (for document control, audits, & CAPA) and SAP for internal NCNs.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate relevant QA processes to internal and external parties.
- Understanding and knowledge of current accreditations (AS 9100 or IATF 16949, Nadcap (Composites)).
- Have key role in upgrading processes to comply with IATF 16949 and AS9100.

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
- Quality System/Process Knowledge: As Quality Engineer, you will be the go to person for all quality related requirements for the production process in your area of responsibility. It is essential that you understand what products are produced in your area and the corresponding Customer requirements and specifications.
- Teamwork / Production Support: You will be supporting the assigned production department (either Resin, Hot Melt or UD/FC) working closely with the relevant Supervisor, Process Engineer, Line Leaders and Operatives in that area with quality training, internal audits, internal non-conformances, and liaising with this team, identifying and leading improvement projects based on suggestions, audits, NCs, and trend data analysis.
- Communication: You will be expected to communicate with everyone in the workplace, possibly presenting QAS related information.
- Training: It is anticipated that as the QMS is a company-wide system, you will be expected to train individuals in its use, in a friendly way supported by clear concise documentation.
- Leadership: As a Quality Engineer your role will involve being a key player in all quality related issues whether process/product related, and you must be confident and competent to prepare for and lead on continuous improvement activities.
