Lawyer/Contract Manager required to support Group Head of Legal in growing communications and media software Group.

The Position: The Lawyer/Contracts Manager is responsible for assisting the Group Head of Legal with customer, vendor and business partner contracts for the companies that fall within the Garcia Group. The Lawyer/Contracts Manager will work closely with the VBU Group Finance Lead and Lumine Group's policies and procedures. The position requires an articulate, self‐motivated individual with strong organization skills. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels across multiple companies in various jurisdictions. Assessing the risks associated with new and existing contracts is further required to maximize the Company's financial and operational performance. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Due to the ongoing COVID‐19 pandemic, this role will be performed on a work-from-home basis. This role is also eligible for permanent remote work status.

Job Duties:

  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering a variety of contracts, including software license, maintenance and support services, consulting agreements, subcontractor, project‐specific agreement, and non‐disclosure agreements to maximize financial and operational performance.
  • Reviewing documents (including responses to bids) for acceptability and compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to customize existing templates, create templates, draft new agreements to fit project requirements, and effectively negotiate terms with customers and suppliers.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors and business partners.
  • Assess and evaluate the risks associated with new and existing contracts.
  • Managing legal review intake and performing triage.
  • Research and recommend best practices and contract process improvements.
  • Dealing with 'ad‐hoc' legal queries as and when they arise.
  • Providing support with regard to internal contract approval processes.
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Law.
  • Circa 3 years of in‐house legal department experience, including contract reviewing and drafting.
  • Experience in a telecommunication and/or software environment considered an asset.
  • Background and/or experience in contract procurement involving software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of software and related rules and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret, write and negotiate contractual agreements.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time (post COVID19 pandemic).
