The Role: We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Hire Controller to join our busy Hire Centre team. This is a varied, hands-on role that combines customer service, administration, equipment preparation, and occasional driving duties. You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the Hire Centre, ensuring customers receive excellent service while keeping our hire fleet maintained, tested, and ready for use. For candidates with mechanical knowledge, there is also the opportunity to carry out servicing and repairs on a range of small hire equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming telephone enquiries and assist customers with hire bookings.
  • Serve customers at the hire desk, providing advice and excellent customer service.
  • Process hire contracts and equipment bookings using the company's computer system.
  • Prepare, inspect, clean, and test hire equipment to ensure it is safe and ready for hire.
  • Assist with loading and unloading customer vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out occasional deliveries and collections of hire equipment.
  • Support the servicing and repair of small hire equipment (where experience allows).
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Hire Centre.

About You:

  • The ideal candidate will be friendly and customer-focused.

  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable using computers and learning hire software.
  • Knowledgeable about tools and machinery (preferred).

  • In possession of a full, valid driving licence.
