Offering an extensive range of services, including carburizing, annealing, tempering, quenching, and specialized plating (e.g., zinc, nickel, and silver).

We are currently seeking an experienced Heat Treatment Manager to join our client's team. This role will involve managing and overseeing the heat treatment processes for various metal products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality, process efficiency, and compliance with all safety and industry regulations. The successful individual will possess a deep understanding of heat treatment techniques for metals, ideally including salt bath heat treatment processing. As part of a small, hands-on team, you will also be involved in other key aspects such as quality methods, testing, and potentially even small repairs when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all products meet or exceed specifications and quality standards, performing regular inspections and tests as necessary.
  • Work closely with the production and engineering teams to refine and develop heat treatment procedures for both new and existing products.
  • Monitor equipment performance, conduct routine maintenance checks, troubleshoot issues, and oversee repairs as needed.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Track inventory levels and manage material orders for heat treatment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of heat treatment processes, results, and adjustments.
  • As a small company, the role will involve being hands-on in areas beyond heat treatment, such as quality methods, testing, and possibly performing small repairs when needed.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in heat treatment within the metals industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of heat treatment processes and equipment (e.g., furnaces, kilns, quenching systems).
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical properties and their relevance to heat treatment processes for various metals (e.g., steel, aluminium, titanium).
  • Good working knowledge of heat treatment of metals, especially salt bath heat treatment processing.
  • Ideal (but not essential): Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of quality working instructions, ensuring compliance with standards and documentation.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance and adherence to ISO/quality control standards.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capability to troubleshoot both equipment and process issues.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to heat treatment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with relevant process control systems.

  • Certification or training in heat treatment or metallurgical processes.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).
  • Knowledge of advanced heat treatment technologies and automation.
