As a Power BI Developer, you will work closely with stakeholders to transform reporting requirements into meaningful insights that support business decision-making. You'll take ownership of Power BI solutions from requirements gathering through to development, deployment and ongoing enhancement, ensuring dashboards are accurate, intuitive and deliver real value. This role combines data modelling, transformation and visualisation, requiring someone who can work confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You'll play an important role in helping organisations make better use of their data by creating scalable, enterprise-grade reporting solutions that are reliable, secure and user-friendly.

As a Power BI Developer, you will:

  • Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
  • Advise on dashboard design, KPI development and data visualisation best practice
  • Connect Power BI to a variety of data sources and transform data using Power Query
  • Design, develop and maintain analytical data models, including star and snowflake schemas
  • Develop DAX measures, calculations and business logic to support complex reporting requirements
  • Create visually engaging, user-friendly and enterprise-grade dashboards in Power BI
  • Manage Power BI workspaces, datasets, permissions and security controls
  • Support data governance standards, ensuring reporting solutions are accurate, consistent and compliant with organisational requirements
  • Monitor and resolve production issues, including dataset refresh failures, performance concerns and report defects
  • Enhance and optimise existing dashboards based on user feedback and evolving business needs
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams to identify opportunities for improved reporting and analytics

Requirements:

  • Proven experience developing and supporting Power BI dashboards within a production environment
  • Strong experience using Power Query for data transformation, cleansing and preparation
  • Experience developing DAX measures and calculations to support analytical reporting
  • Solid understanding of data modelling concepts, including star and snowflake schemas
  • Experience managing datasets, workspaces, security and access controls within Power BI Service
  • Strong understanding of data visualisation best practice and dashboard usability principles
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders to gather requirements and define KPIs
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality and reporting standards
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Experience working with multiple data sources and data integration processes
  • Exposure to data engineering concepts, ETL processes or cloud-based data platforms
  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise or regulated environments
