Sword Dynamic Services Ltd is looking for a reliable, hardworking and experienced Construction Driver / Yard & Site Support Operative to join our team. This is not simply a driving position. We are looking for someone who has previous general building or construction experience, understands how construction sites operate and is happy to get involved with a wide variety of practical duties.
The successful candidate will support our site teams by delivering materials and equipment, collecting waste and surplus materials from projects, keeping our yard and stores organised, and helping ensure our teams have what they need to complete their work efficiently. A company truck and fuel card will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect construction waste, rubbish and surplus materials from sites and take them to the appropriate authorised facility or company yard.
- Deliver building materials, tools and equipment to projects across the region.
- Collect materials and orders from builders' merchants and suppliers.
- Load and unload materials safely and securely.
- Support site teams with moving materials and equipment when required.
- Keep the company yard, stores and storage areas clean, tidy and well organised.
- Organise stock so materials can be easily identified and accessed.
- Monitor general stock levels and inform management when commonly used materials need replenishing.
- Receive deliveries into the yard and check them against orders where required.
- Ensure tools, equipment and unused materials returned from sites are stored correctly.
- Help reduce waste by identifying materials that can be reused on other projects.
- Keep the company vehicle clean, tidy and presentable.
- Carry out basic daily vehicle checks and report defects or maintenance requirements.
- Ensure loads are safe and properly secured before travelling.
- Follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist construction teams with general site duties when required.
- Represent Sword Dynamic Services professionally when dealing with customers, suppliers and members of the public.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience working within construction or general building.
- Good practical knowledge of building materials, tools and construction sites.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Confident and experienced driver.
- Physically fit and comfortable loading, unloading and moving construction materials.

- Able to work independently and manage a daily schedule.
- Good attitude and willingness to help wherever required.
- Good understanding of site health and safety.
- Able to communicate effectively with site managers, tradespeople, suppliers and office staff.
- Takes pride in keeping vehicles, yards and working areas clean and organised.

- Experience working for a building, roofing or construction contractor.
- Experience driving vans, pickups or similar commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of builders' merchants and construction suppliers around Bristol and the South West.
- Experience managing construction stock or working within a builders' yard.
- CSCS card.
- Experience with roofing/building materials.
- Additional driving qualifications or towing experience.
The Person
We’re looking for someone who is dependable and proactive - the type of person who notices when something needs doing and gets on with it rather than waiting to be asked. Because you will regularly visit active construction sites, previous building experience is important. You need to understand how sites operate, recognise common materials and equipment, and be comfortable working around trades and site teams. Organisation is also a major part of the position. We want our yard and stores maintained properly, with materials and equipment stored safely and logically rather than simply being dropped off.
What We Provide
- Full-time permanent position.
- Company truck.
- Company fuel card.
- Company uniform/PPE where required.
- Stable employment with an established construction company.
- Varied working day rather than being based in one location.
- Opportunity to become an important part of our operational team.
Typical Day
A typical day could involve starting at the company yard, loading materials required by one of our projects, delivering them to site, collecting waste or surplus materials from another project, picking up an order from a builders' merchant and returning to the yard to unload and organise stock. The role will vary from day to day, so we are looking for somebody who enjoys being busy and is comfortable taking responsibility for getting things done.
Hours: Full-time - Salary: depending on experience.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Bristol / South West - travelling to company sites as required
Vehicle: Company truck provided
