We are seeking an experienced Operational Technology (OT) Engineer to join a specialist OT Systems team.

In this role, you will provide technical expertise across OT projects and support the development, enhancement, maintenance, and upgrade of critical OT systems and infrastructure.

Working closely with operational and technology support teams, you will help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of OT environments while contributing to the introduction of new technologies and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support the evaluation and implementation of new technologies through proof-of-concepts, technical research, and recommendations for strategic improvements.
  • Collaborate with operational control and engineering teams to enhance, develop, test, and maintain critical control systems.
  • Contribute to the cyber security and resilience of OT environments, including participation in incident response, disaster recovery exercises, backup management, and recovery testing.
  • Support the monitoring, maintenance, and optimisation of OT platforms to improve system reliability and availability.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, faults, and performance challenges within OT systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous service improvement.
  • Participate in out-of-hours support activities and standby arrangements as required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience working with Operational Technology (OT) systems, including troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and performance improvement.
  • Experience analysing system failures and implementing solutions to improve reliability, resilience, and operational effectiveness.
  • Strong understanding of OT system monitoring, maintenance, and lifecycle management practices.
  • Experience contributing to technical projects as either a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or technical delivery specialist.
  • Knowledge of cyber security principles, disaster recovery processes, backup management, and operational resilience within critical infrastructure environments.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage confidently with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting OT environments within critical infrastructure, utilities, energy, industrial, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to Operational Technology environments.
  • Experience participating in cyber security exercises, incident response activities, or resilience testing programmes.
