About the role: As the Subsurface Data Manager, you will ensure the integrity and accessibility of subsurface data, including seismic and well log data, across operated and non-operated assets. Acting as the trusted "single source of truth," you will manage a high-quality corporate data store, support key projects, and align data stewardship services with business needs. You will also ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for data retention and reporting, enabling smarter decision-making, reducing risks, and driving cost savings. Your expertise in maintaining data quality and ensuring seamless access to critical information will be vital to the company’s success.
As a Subsurface Data Manager, you will:
- Monitor and maintain Well & Seismic data management services for clients, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Support Subsurface and Exploration teams in maintaining data quality, workflows, and accessibility within the Subsurface and Exploration product line.
- Manage client requirements for Exploration and Geological Well & Seismic data, including data receipt, conversion, transfer, quality control, and archiving.
- Ensure compliance with Information and Samples Retention and Reporting obligations.
- Coordinate compliance improvement efforts across client databases and develop and implement Information and Samples Plans (ISPs).
- Serve as a key interface between the Geoscience community and Data Management teams.
- Oversee the acquisition, storage, integration, and optimization of subsurface data.
- Conduct data quality assessments, enforce standards, and ensure synchronization across projects and corporate repositories.
- Deliver well & seismic data management services for E&P applications and maintain corporate databases.
- Maintain and regularly update data inventories, applying agreed standards for consistency and optimization.
Requirements:
- Proven expertise in managing subsurface data within exploration and production contexts.
- Experience with data management in the Petrel environment; knowledge of Landmark, Kingdom, and other technical applications is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of upstream business operations, with in-depth knowledge of data management concepts, standards, practices, tools, and technologies.
- Familiarity with data lifecycle management and compliance with operator regulatory obligations, including experience with the UK National Data Repository.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Degree in Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent IS experience with G&G data.
