About the role:

As the OT Infrastructure Engineer / Consultant, you will play a key role in the design, build, configuration and deployment of secure and resilient infrastructure supporting complex OT and industrial environments. This is a hands-on engineering and consultancy role working across Windows and Linux environments, VMware, physical and virtual server infrastructure and industrial technology. You will support solutions throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design and build through application integration, testing, commissioning and deployment.

Working closely with clients, vendors and specialists across OT, network, cyber security and engineering, you will help resolve technical challenges, support system and vendor integration and ensure infrastructure solutions are delivered securely and in line with agreed designs and standards.

As an OT Infrastructure Engineer / Consultant, you will:

  • Design, build and configure physical and virtual server infrastructure within OT environments
  • Design, build and support VMware environments
  • Build, configure and support Windows Server and Linux-based infrastructure platforms
  • Support the hosting, installation and integration of OT and industrial applications
  • Configure and support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and associated infrastructure services
  • Implement resilient and highly available infrastructure supporting critical OT systems
  • Support enterprise storage, backup, recovery and disaster recovery solutions
  • Implement server and device hardening, patching and vulnerability remediation
  • Undertake infrastructure health checks, troubleshooting and performance analysis
  • Support infrastructure migrations, upgrades and technology refresh programmes
  • Undertake system and infrastructure testing and validation prior to deployment
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and production go-live activities
  • Troubleshoot system, application and vendor integration issues during project delivery
  • Produce HLDs, LLDs, build guides, configuration documentation, test plans, validation evidence and as-built documentation
  • Work closely with OT, cyber security, network, application and engineering teams
  • Provide technical consultancy and guidance to clients throughout project delivery

Requirements:

You’ll bring strong hands-on infrastructure engineering experience, ideally gained within OT, industrial or other complex operational environments. Strong experience building, configuring and supporting Windows Server environments. Hands-on experience with VMware and physical and virtual server deployment. Experience with Linux operating systems, ideally including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Experience supporting application hosting and associated infrastructure. Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP. Experience with high availability, clustering and infrastructure resilience. Experience with enterprise server hardware, including Dell, HPE or equivalent. Knowledge of SAN, NAS and enterprise storage technologies. Experience with backup and disaster recovery technologies. Good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls and segmentation. Experience hardening, patching and managing the lifecycle of Windows and Linux systems. Experience supporting system integration, testing, validation and commissioning activities. Experience producing technical designs, diagrams, infrastructure documentation and test procedures. Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Confidence working directly with clients, vendors and technical stakeholders. Experience within OT / ICS, industrial, energy, utilities or Critical National Infrastructure environments would be advantageous. Understanding of OT cyber security principles and recognised industry standards such as IEC 62443 or NCSC CAF would be advantageous.
