Overview

Swoon was founded in 2012 to create distinctive designs that owners will want to keep forever and a lofty goal to spark home obsession everywhere. We design original pieces in-house, and our innovative NPD process quickly discovers the next trend. Our testing platform ensures designs sell online at their intended price, and our data-led approach grows sales within families exponentially. Our business model cuts out expensive overheads like shops and overstocked warehouses, making our prices affordable. Our distinctive look unlocks collaborations with leading retailers like John Lewis and many more. This diversified growth strategy is powering our brand to a significant market share. And we’re just getting started...

We are looking for a highly ambitious, part qualified FP&A Analyst to act as the commercial co-pilot to our Finance Director. At Swoon, FP&A isn’t just about reporting history; it’s about architecting our financial future. This role sits at the heart of the business. You will own the models that drive our most critical decisions - from managing our rolling cash forecast to stress-testing the ROI of a new dropship partnership. We are an inventory-heavy business where lead times and margins are everything. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the margin guardrails, ensuring we maintain a healthy relationship between top line revenue and contribution. We’re a small team of 25 and this is the sole FP&A role in the business. You’ll be super motivated at the opportunity to have a real impact on our performance and bottom line from the get go and hungry to develop fast into an FP&A manager and further.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Modelling & Cash Management: Own the 3-Way Model, including the integrated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow, and management of the rolling cash forecast.
  • Budgeting & Reforecast: Lead the quarterly reforecast process and the 3-year strategic plan, ensuring all departmental assumptions are stress-tested.
  • Board Reporting: Support the FD in preparing monthly and quarterly board packs, translating complex variances into clear, actionable narratives for stakeholders.
  • Commercial Guardrails & Margin Mastery: Own SKU-Level Profitability; report on the Margin Stack from factory to front door and coordinate margin improvement strategies to hit targets.
  • Trading Guardrails: Provide clarity on trading performance across Swoon and Dropship partners, challenge assumptions and coordinate actions to hit target.
  • Buying Proposals: Sign off buying proposals with merchandising and present to the FD for sign off.
  • Returns & Failure Analysis: Monitor the cost of failure with Ops and own the improvement roadmap.
  • Data Stack: Build automated reporting and dashboarding in BI tools (Sigma) and own the finance automation roadmap; replace manual data pulls to enable higher-level analysis.
  • Variance Analysis: Monthly updates on performance, breaking down variance to target by volume, price, and mix.
  • Monthly P&L Reviews: Present performance overview for each channel to business stakeholders and drive improvements.
  • AI Roadmap: Support the data manager with AI process improvements and roadmap.
  • Business Partnering & Decision Support: Dropship Growth; end-to-end support from building and signing off P&Ls for new partners to monthly profitability reporting and margin improvements; Meeting Leadership in weekly trading sessions; act as a gatekeeper for ROI on business cases for new partners or Capex with objective Approve/Reject recommendations to the FD.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2-3 years in an FP&A or Commercial Finance role, ideally within Retail, FMCG, or D2C. You must understand inventory-heavy business models.
  • Qualification: Part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).
  • Technical Skills: Expert-level Excel/Google Sheets (Financial modelling is your second language). Experience with SQL and BI tools like Sigma, Tableau, or Looker.

Mindset

  • Proactive: You don’t wait to be told there is a risk; you find it and bring the solution.
  • Direct: You can hold your own in a room with the CEO, FD and Department Heads.
  • Operational: You care about how things work operationally as much as the impact on the P&L.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Share options programme
  • Profit share scheme
  • Wellbeing allowance
  • Pension scheme
  • Private medical cover for you and your family
  • 27 days holiday rising to 30 with tenure
  • 4 months of summer hours finishing at 1 PM on a Friday (we're currently trialling rolling this out permanently!)
