Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for a Digital Editorial Assistant to support our expanding digital publishing initiative, with a particular focus on expanding our German-language content. Working closely with our Digital Content Manager, you will help grow SWNS’s MSN content feed by adapting our stories for a German-speaking audience. You will also play a key role in creating eye-catching picture galleries using new and archive content. Our stories are visually strong and fast-moving - we need someone who can optimise content for maximum engagement, understands what makes a good digital news story, and can confidently juggle multiple pieces of content at once.
The role:
- Adapt and translate SWNS stories into German
- Edit, format and publish content on MSN.com
- Support the Digital Content Manager in growing SWNS audience and revenue on msn.com
- Create and curate picture galleries, including writing engaging titles and image captions
- Page-edit and publish content using WordPress
- Analyse content performance and adjust strategy to improve output quality
- Manage multiple stories in a fast-paced digital publishing environment
Required skills & experience:
- Fluent in German
- Minimum of two years’ experience writing for a mainstream digital or print publication (in German)
- Excellent German writing skills
- A good editorial eye - knowing what makes a story engaging, visually strong and well-formatted
- Strong interest in digital news, visual storytelling and online trends
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage multiple stories and platforms simultaneously
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team
- A self-starter who is motivated to see their content perform well with audiences
- Previous experience working with WordPress and digital publishing (preferred but not essential)
- Proof of right to work in the UK
