Key Requirements
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active NMC registration
- GP practice experience is mandatory
- Competency in EMIS Web
- Current membership of a professional nursing organisation
- Committed to ongoing professional development
- Minimum of 2 years’ GP practice nurse experience
Key Responsibilities
- Childhood and travel immunisations
- Wound care and ear syringing
- ECG and spirometry
- Conduct health assessments and screening: new patient checks, 75+ assessments
- Cervical cytology
- Manage chronic disease clinics, including asthma, COPD, diabetes, CHD, and hypertension
- Promote and support health education and wellbeing clinics
- Collaborate with wider healthcare team: GPs, community services, district nurses, and allied professionals
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure safe management of the treatment room
- Coordinate repeat prescriptions and vaccine stock
- Assist in mentoring and training of healthcare assistants
- Participate in practice meetings, audits, training, and nursing forums
Additional Notes
The postholder is expected to maintain up-to-date CPD and mandatory training.
Responsibilities may evolve with the needs of the practice.
A willingness to support the wider team and flexible approach is essential.
