The HR Business Partner (HRBP) will work as an integral part of the HR team to provide practical, day-to-day HR support to managers and employees across the business. This role focuses on operational HR delivery, ensuring compliance with employment law, supporting line managers, and driving effective people management practices.
The HRBP is responsible for guiding managers on HR processes, resolving employee relations issues, and supporting the HR Officer and HR Administrator in their day-to-day activities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to line managers, team leaders, and heads of department.
- Support managers in implementing HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, absence management, and employee relations.
- Act as first point of escalation for HR operational issues and provide practical, compliant solutions.
- Line manage the junior roles within the team, supporting their daily tasks and development.
- Deliver HR advice in line with company policies and employment law.
- Assist with operational HR projects, policy updates, and communications.
- Support managers in managing capability, disciplinary, and grievance cases in an operational capacity.
- Contribute to improving HR processes and reporting to improve the efficiency of the business.
- Manage all aspects of HR from recruiting and onboarding to employee exits.
- Promote employee engagement, wellbeing, and a positive working environment.
- Collaborate with other HR colleagues to ensure consistent, practical HR practices across the business.
- CIPD qualified (Level 5 or 7) active membership desirable.
- Minimum 3 years experience in an operational HR role.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR policies.
- Practical experience supporting managers with day-to-day HR issues, absence, performance management, and employee relations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in line management or supervising HR support staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Experience in coaching or mentoring junior HR colleagues.
- Exposure to HR systems and reporting.
- Experience in supporting multiple sites or a dispersed workforce.
- Pragmatic and solutions-focused.
- Consultative, approachable, and able to build strong working relationships.
- Resilient and able to work under pressure.
