Targeted Youth Worker Team Leader

Location: Nottinghamshire

Reports to: Delivery Operations Manager

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours. Flexible schedule including some evening and weekend work.

Job Description

The role of the Youth Work Team Leader (YWTL) is to support the Delivery Operations Manager to lead the Mentoring and Targeted Youth Work team alongside delivering their own caseload ensuring:

  • Quality mentoring and youth work services tailored to deliver funded requirements and meet community need.
  • Switch Up model of leading Young People “Over The Bridge” is embedded in practice.
  • Supported and motivated staff teams who share the organisations vision and mission.
  • Delivery regulatory compliance.

Working with the Delivery Operations Manager, the YWTL will use their experience and knowledge of mentoring delivery to support the team through case management and guidance. They will continue to undertake direct face to face work with a caseload of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to support their progression into positive outcomes in life, work or learning.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3 years professional experience working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in a mentoring, youth work, or educational setting both one-to-one and in groups.
  • Designing, developing and delivering youth work programs.
  • Recording using case management, monitoring and evaluation systems to measure program impact.
  • Complying with legislations and procedures.
  • Health and safety legislation and procedure.
  • Safeguarding children and adults at risk.
  • Data protection.
  • Engaging and motivating individuals.
  • A relevant qualification in youth work, youth justice, or a related field or willingness to complete a teaching qualification. Desirable but not essential.

  • Legislation compliance such as: Safeguarding; health and safety; data protection; equal opportunities.
  • Creativity to develop and deliver session plans that engage and inspire young people.
  • Strong administrative skills for accurate data entry with proficiency in IT and software applications, including Microsoft Office 365 and case management systems.
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage schedules, files, and tasks efficiently.

Personal and Administrative

  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Attention to detail in handling documents and data entry.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle unexpected situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including welcoming, enthusiastic, positive and friendly manner; active listening; ability to build and maintain relationships with young people; ability to engage and influence a range of individuals; ability to manage conflict and be assertive.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to undergo enhanced DBS check and be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Business insurance on your car and a willingness to transport young people.
  • You would be based in Nottingham City or Mansfield depending on where you live and would be required to travel between sites.
