We’re partnering with a mission driven digital mapping start-up that is revolutionising land management to fight the climate crisis. Having dominated the UK market, they are now at a pivotal inflection point architecting for a massive global rollout. This is a foundational hire for a Software Engineering Manager or Lead Engineer ready to step up, own a technical roadmap and build a legacy in a high-growth "Tech for Good" environment.

Software Engineering Manager Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Reporting to the CEO, you’ll join the leadership team to "join the dots" between business strategy and global technical scale.
  • Stay Close to the Craft: You’ll remain 30% hands-on, leading complex technical spikes, architectural decisions, and critical code paths.
  • Team & Partners: Lead a specialist in-house data team while managing the relationship and ROI of high-performing outsourced development partners.
  • Platform Evolution: Own the move to global scale, ensuring resilience, security, and the ingestion of complex third-party geospatial datasets.

Software Engineering Manager Requirements

  • Proven Leader: You’ve led and grown teams, ideally within a growth-stage startup.
  • Technical Depth: Expert in Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS infrastructure. You aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty when the situation demands it.
  • Data Savvy: Comfortable with complex datasets (Geospatial/PostGIS experience is a massive plus).
