THE ROLE
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Solicitor to join our Contentious Probate Department. This is a challenging and highly specialist area of law that demands a strategic mindset, combined with the ability to progress cases with an innovative approach and exceptional client care. You will play a vital role in supporting your colleagues in progressing client matters, conduct complex litigation, as well as liaise with Counsel and clients directly.
The ideal candidate must have existing knowledge of contentious probate and trust work, with Court of Protection experience welcomed.
Key Responsibilities:
- · Manage a caseload of contentious probate and trust cases, including Inheritance Act claims, claims relating to validity of testamentary documents and disputes regarding estate administration.
- · Conduct case reviews, analyse documentation, and provide legal advice.
- · Attend client meetings, ensuring client needs are met and offering support throughout the legal process.
- · Maintain accurate case records and compliance with professional standards.
- · Work closely with other professionals, experts, and Counsel to build cases.
- · Attend and document meetings, ensuring all key points are captured and followed up accordingly.
- · Adhere to all confidentiality and professional conduct requirements.
- · Manage finances responsibly and comply with firm procedures.
- · Comply with mandatory training and any other duties as directed by the firm.
This role is based at our Doncaster and Wakefield offices on a hybrid basis. Due to the nature of the work, a flexible and responsive approach is essential and you will be required to commute in between all offices from time to time.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
· Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external professionals, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
· Relevant Legal Knowledge: A solid understanding of Contentious Probate and Trusts law.
· Experience in Contentious Probate and Trusts: Proven track record of handling complex disputes concerning estates, inheritance and testamentary documents, including case preparation, litigation, client interaction, and legal representation.
· Strong Analytical Ability: Excellent attention to detail, particularly in reviewing and analysing documents such as witness evidence, medical records and legal papers.
· Client-Focused: Proven ability to provide exceptional client care and maintain strong client relationships throughout a case
