Overview

Location: Remote, must be willing to travel. Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent.

Reporting to the Regional Training Manager (RTM), the Regional Training Officer (RTO) is responsible for delivering training across all stations within their assigned region. This includes conducting both classroom and practical training sessions for initial and refresher programs. The RTO will be a subject matter expert in at least one operational function while also being adaptable to deliver and assess a wide range of training programs. Additionally, they will support On-the-Job Coaches (OJC) at each station, ensuring that location-specific training requirements are met and that all training aligns with Swissport’s Training Policy and Procedures. Regular training assessments will be conducted to maintain and uphold operational standards. The RTO will be based at one of the following locations but will be required to travel across all stations as needed: UK: Aberdeen (ABZ), Belfast (BFS), Birmingham (BHX), East Midlands (EMA), Glasgow (GLA), London Heathrow (LHR), Manchester (MAN), London Stansted (STN); Republic of Ireland: Cork (ORK), Dublin (DUB), Shannon (SNN).

Responsibilities

  • Training Delivery & Compliance: Deliver initial, refresher, and revalidation training (mandatory & technical). Manage third-party training provision. Oversee training quality, CPD, and compliance audits. Support On-the-Job Coaches (OJC) through coaching, mentoring, and management. Ensure adherence to Training Quality Assurance Standards and Safeguarding.
  • Station & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the station point of contact for training queries. Coordinate station inductions, upskilling, and compliance training. Maintain effective communication via Yammer, newsletters, email, and calls. Organise and manage training facilities, schedules, and course materials.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Conduct training observations and audits to uphold quality standards. Track training compliance and issue Performance Training Intervention Notices. Support Active Supervision and facilitate Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions. Ensure cost control and revenue generation from third-party training sales.

  • Training Compliance – Business, safety-critical, and other mandatory programmes.
  • Training Quality & Standardisation – 30% of stations audited on a 36-month cycle.
  • Trainer Development – Conduct classroom/practical training observations.
  • Safety & Compliance – Meet QHSE standards and safeguarding expectations.
  • Training Cost Control & Revenue Generation – Optimise efficiency and sales.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in training, monitoring, and evaluation across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong leadership in fast-paced, highly regulated environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Deep understanding of Health & Safety with a track record of meeting safety targets.
  • Ability to analyse metrics, demonstrate ROI/ROE, and ensure compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems.
  • Training & Assessment – Level 3 Award in Education & Training (or equivalent), Level 2/3 Assessor Qualifications, IQA, Swissport Trainers & On-the-Job Coaching Induction.
  • Health & Safety – IOSH Managing Safely, Level 2/3 Awards in Health & Safety & Manual Handling, Swissport Level 2 Auditor.
  • Regulatory & Compliance – CIN Security (DfT/IAA Approved), IATA Dangerous Goods (CAT 6/8/9/10), Swissport SOP & Corporate Training Materials expertise.
  • Technology & Reporting – Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Power BI), E-Learning Master Trainer, Intelex, DCM Reporting, Training Compliance Tracking.
  • Training Administration – Induction & Skills Tracker, Training Surveys & Feedback, Policy & Procedure Compliance, Training Facility Auditing.
  • Stakeholder & Commercial Management – Customer & Relationship Management, Third-Party Training Sales, Airline-Specific Train-the-Trainer (TTT).
